The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team fell to Indiana State in the first round of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Soccer Tournament today in Terre Haute, Ind., 2-1. The Sycamores scored two unanswered goals in the second half to advance to the next round of the conference tournament.

The Panthers were the first to get on the board when junior Shanon Dechant (Marion, Iowa) placed a header off a corner kick by junior midfielder Jillian Carroll (Leawood, Kan.) at the 41:30 mark. It was Carroll's second assist on the season while the goal was Dechant's sixth.

The Sycamores outshot UNI 15 to one in the second half and scored unassisted goals in the 70th and 80th minute by Callie McDonough and Nichole Tiggs, respectively.

Freshman keeper Krista Thorley (Ontario, Canada) collected 14 saves on they day and ended with 121 on the season.

The Panthers finish 2-14-2 overall and 2-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference while the Sycamores improve to 9-9 overall and 5-3 in the league. This was the final game for senior captain Abby Luensmann (Dubuque, Iowa).
