The University of Northern Iowa soccer team will travel to DeKalb, Ill., to take part in the Northern Illinois Tournament. UNI will face Georgia Southern Fri., Aug. 29 and then take on Eastern Illinois Sun., Aug. 31.

UNI suffered two losses last weekend, one at the hands of a tough Minnesota team, and then fell in a close exhibition contest with Upper Iowa, 3-2.

UNI struggled to break through the Minnesota defense in the season opener, as the Panthers managed only two shots in comparison to the Golden Gophers’ 38. UNI goal keeper Lauren Potzman registered nine saves in the contest. The Panthers’ Chelsie Hochstedler took two shots with both on goal against the Gophers.

UNI started out firing against Upper Iowa in their exhibition contest, but were unable to answer the Peacocks two second-period goals.

The Panthers’ Chelsie Hochstedler scored UNI’s first two goals of the 2008 season in the exhibition contest with Upper Iowa. Hochstedler’s first goal came at the 5:23 mark in the first period. Her second goal of the game also came in the first period, this one in the 15th minute.

About GEORGIA SOUTHERN

The Eagles come into this weekend fresh off a 2-0 win over Gardner-Webb.  Freshman Danae Kaimuola will look to continue her scoring streak, as she scored goals in the Eagles’ exhibition game against North Georgia and Gardner-Webb. The Eagles are coached by fourth-year head coach Ashley Hart, who returns the bulk of her team from the 2007 season. Eight of the Eagles starters return, along with 15 letterwinners.

About EASTERN ILLINOIS

The Panthers are 0-2 this season, most recently falling to Purdue, 5-1. Eastern Illinois’ first loss came in an overtime contest at the hands of Indiana State, 0-1. Head coach Tim Nowalk enters his fourth year, and has a core of 14 letterwinners returning, including five starters. UNI is 0-2 against Eastern Illinois all-time, with the EIU Panthers winning the last contest in 2001, 3-1.
