UNI looks to earn its first Missouri Valley Conference win of the season this weekend as they host Missouri State Friday evening before traveling to Illinois State for a afternoon contest Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT...

UNI struggled to find the back of the net in its last two contests, dropping a 3-1 contest in MVC play to Drake Wednesday evening. Later in the week the Panthers saw UW-Green Bay slip past them in a non-conference match-up Saturday, also by the score of 3-1. Kala Negus scored her first career goal against Drake, scoring off a pass by Laura Heaton.

Chelsie Hochstedler scored her seventh goal of the season for the Panthers in their 3-1 loss to UW-Green Bay Sunday. Hochstedler also scored off a Heaton pass, marking her second assist of the season.

SCORING STREAK

Chelsie Hochsteder and Nicole Ferltio have been the consistent scoring leaders for the Panthers this season. Hochstedler held a four-game scoring streak, dating back to Sept. 21 when UNI topped North Dakota State. Hochstedler’s streak was broken against Drake (Oct. 1). Hochstedler leads the team with 15 total points, while Ferlito follows with 10. Hochstedler and Ferlito have combined for 12 of the Panthers 16 goals with Hochstedler recording seven and Ferlito tallying five.

About Missouri State

The Bears come into Friday’s contest with an overall record of 7-4-1 and 0-1 in Missouri Valley Conference play.  The Bears opened MVC play against league-leader Evansville, falling 3-1 to the Purple Aces. Missouri State leads the conference in shutouts with seven this season. Goal keeper Jackie Jasper was named MVC Athlete of the Week (week of Sept. 22). Jasper has registered 47 saves for the Bears and is credited with six of the Bears seven shutouts. Missouri State leads the all-time series against the Panthers 2-8, with the Bears last topping the Panthers 4-0 in 2006.

ABOUT ILLINOIS STATE

The Redbirds enter Sunday’s contest with a 6-6-1 overall record and 1-1 in the Valley. Illinois State notched a 1-0 win over Creighton Oct. 4 scoring with just 1.4 seconds left on the clock. The Redbird offense is led by Mel Routledge who has tallied five goals and one assist for a total of 11 points this season. Illinois State holds a 1-7 advantage over the Panthers in the all-time series. The Panthers dropped a 3-0 loss to the Redbirds last season.
