Potzman, Hochstedler Earn MVC All-Conference Honors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A pair of University of Northern Iowa women’s soccer players earned All-Missouri Valley Conference accolades including freshman goalkeeper Lauren Potzman being named MVC Freshman of the Year. Along with Potzman, sophomore midfielder Chelsie Hochstedler was named second team All-MVC.
Potzman, who also earned MVC Honorable Mention accolades, played in every minute of the Panthers 19 games this season, leading the league with 152 saves. Potzman is tied for No. 8 on The Valley’s single-season leaderboard for saves and is second on UNI’s single-season record book in saves.
Hochstedler, who was named MVC Honorable Mention and a member of the MVC All-Freshman team in her freshman campaign, returned as the offensive leader for the Panthers this season, earning her second-team all-conference accolades. The sophomore led the Panthers this season in points, goals, shots and shots on goal, finishing the season with eight goals and one assist. Hochstedler carried a four-game scoring streak, including a multiple-goal game against North Dakota State (Sept. 21).
