Box Score

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Northern Iowa softball team earned its sixth win of the season Friday, topping Arkansas 3-0 at the Metrodome Softball Classic in Minneapolis, Minn.

Jen Larsen (Moline, Ill./Moline) put the Panthers on the board in the top of the fourth after Morgan Paulson (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) sent her home on a sacrifice fly to right field.

Ashley Lepley (Albia, Iowa/Albia) opened the top of the sixth with a solo home run to left field, putting the Panthers up 2-0. Larsen followed with a single to right field, and then was sent home when Crystal Keiper (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) drove a double to left center, thus putting the Panthers up 3-0.

Larsen tallied the win for the Panthers, allowing just two hits in four innings. Larsen also had a stellar performance at the plate, going 2-for-2 and scoring two runs.

The pitching duo of Liz Adams (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) and Larsen combined for three strikeouts and allowed only three hits to the Lady Razorbacks without issuing a walk.

UNI continues play at the Metrodome Softball Classic later today, taking on host Minnesota at 5:30 p.m.

NOTES

This marks the second shutout of the season for the UNI, after earning a 3-0 shutout to North Dakota at the Ramada UNI-Dome Classic last weekend.
