Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Northern Iowa softball team wrapped up a rough weekend of competition in the Best Western Airport-Tulsa Festival with an 11-2 loss to No. 17 Nebraska on Sunday.

The Panthers struggled to hold back the Huskers' powerful lineup, with Nebraska jumping out to an 11-0 lead after four innings on the strength of a three-run home run by Jamie Waldecker in the first inning and a grand slam by Devin Porter in the third frame.

UNI attempted an answer in the fifth inning when senior Rachael Rogers (Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert) drew a walk to push Dyann Peterson (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) across the plate for the Panthers' first run, Rogers' second RBI walk in as many days to raise her team-leading RBI total to 12.  The Panthers put their second run on the board when Jamie Kelling (Davenport, Iowa/West) scored on a wild pitch later in the inning, but the game was called following the third out of the frame due to the run margin.

Freshman Monica Wright (Morrison, Ill./Morrison) took the loss for UNI and saw her season record fall to 2-5.  The Panthers' overall mark dropped to 4-9-1 following a 1-4 showing for the weekend in Tulsa.

UNI wraps up the tournament portion of its schedule next weekend in the SEMO Spring Classic, hosted by Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
