CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa softball team dropped a pair of games to Evansville at Panther Park Saturday in a Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader, 4-0 and 10-3.

The Panthers bounced back from a shutout loss to the Purple Aces in the day's first game with some early offense in the nightcap, beginning with a Rachael Rogers (Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert) single to start the second inning.  Rogers then scored on a throwing error to chip into the Aces' lead and make the score 4-1.

UNI added more offense in the third frame, with Dyann Peterson (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) reaching on an Evansville error to start things off.  After Peterson advanced to second on a ground ball, Stephanie Aguero (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) drove her in with a single to center field.  Aguero then moved to second on an illegal pitch and scored on a single by Rogers, who went 3-for-3 in the game.

Unfortunately for Panther starter Uju Ibekwe, that was all the offense UNI could muster.  Ibekwe (5-17) took the loss in both games, while Ashley Hobbs was twice the winner for Evansville.

Rogers, who along with Ibekwe was honored as part of the Panthers' Senior Day activities, finished the day 4-for-6 at the plate to bump her season average to a team-best .286.

The Panthers (12-37-1, 2-20 MVC) face Evansville (23-26, 8-18 MVC) in a single game Sunday at Panther Park in their final action of the season.  First pitch is scheduled for noon.
