The University of Northern Iowa women's swim team defeated Luther College, 152-79 winning 10 of 13 events. This victory raises the Panther record to 4-8.

28 points alone went to relay finishes. In the 200-yard medley relay, Panther teams finished first, second and fifth. The first place 200 medley relay team consisted of freshman Abby Girard (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls), senior Rachael Robnett (Cour d'Alene, Idaho/Lake City), freshman Maggie Rickert (Hudson , Iowa/Hudson) and freshman Amanda Firman (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls). They raced in at 1:53.36.

In the 200-yard free relay, Panther teams finished first, third and fifth. The first place 200 free relay team consisted of Firman, sophomore Ashley Hunter (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley North), Rickert and senior Erin Danielson (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston). Their finishing time was 1:40.10.

Individual first-place finishes include sophomore Katie Maloy (Auburn, Ind./R. Nelson Snider) in the 1000-yard free, Girard in the 200-yard free and the 200-yard back, Firman in the 50-yard free, Robnett in the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard breast, Hunter in the 100-yard free and freshman Kelly Mateas (Winfield, Ill./Community) in the 500-yard free.

Second-place finishes include sophomore Melissa Little (Lawrence, Kan./Lawrence) in the 1000 free, Hunter in the 200 free, Danielson in the 50 free, sophomore Katie Klinkenborg (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) in the 200-yard fly, sophomore Abby Moes (Sioux City, Iowa/East) in the 200 back and Maloy in the 500 free.

 

 

The Panthers will be back in action Jan. 27 in Omaha, Nebraska at 2 p.m. They will face off with the University of Omaha-Nebraska.
