The University of Northern Iowa women's swim team had their best Missouri Valley Conference Championship performance since 1991, finishing in fourth-place with 382 points. All together, the swimmers broke six school records, one swimmer was named all-conference and four swimmers were honorable mention. The final honor went to head coach Stacey Simmer who was named MVC Coach of the Year.

Records setting performances this weekend went to Amanda Firman in the number one spot and Erin Danielson taking second in the all-time top five for the 50-yard free, Firman in first, Danielson in third and Ashley Hunter in fourth in the 100-yard free, Hunter in second in the 200-yard free, Melissa Little in fifth in the 1,650-yard free, Abby Girard in first, Danielson in third and Abby Moes in fifth in the 100-yard back, Girard in first and Moes in third in the 200-yard back, Rachael Robnett in fifth in the 200-yard breast and Girard in fifth in the 200-yard IM. The 200-yard free relay team with Firman, Hunter, Maggie Rickert and Danielson and the 400-yard free relay team also with Firman, Hunter, Rickert and Danielson also set school records this weekend.

For her second-place finish in the 200-yard back, sophomore Abby Girard was named to the 2007 first team all-conference. Named 2007 all-conference honorable mention were senior Erin Danielson, sophomores Ashley Hunter and Abby Moes and freshmen Abby Girard and Firman.

To be named all-conference, the swimmer must finish first, second, or third in an individual event, or swim on a first-place relay team. Honorable mention honors go to 4th-8th place finishers in each event and the runner-up in each relay.
