Wildcats Take Down Panthers in Season Opener

Des Moines – The Kansas State Wildcats defeated the UNI Panthers 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. Kansas State started out the afternoon right, earning the doubles point. Talia Jang-Stewart and Sampada Kanade fell in the No. 1 doubles match to Kansas State’s Antea Huljey and Nina Sertic 8-1. In the No. 2 spot, UNI’s Laia Gonzalez-Garrido and Phoebe Walker topped Kansas State’s Petra Chuda and Ana Gomez Aleman 8-4. Natasha Vieira and Maryna Chumak of Kansas State (No. 3) secured the doubles point with an 8-1 win over UNI’s Stefannia Sampaio and Jessica Kunzelmann.
Head Coach Sachin Kirtane had this to say after the match, “It was a really hard fought match, but it was a good way to start the season against a solid team and hopefully we can keep on improving.”
