Panthers Squeak By Eastern Illinois

The top two doubles teams, as well as No. 1 Meghana Paritala (Secunderabad, India), and No. 2 Agnes Pukse (Riga, Latvia) all were defeated for the first time this season to a tough Eastern Illinois team. The Panthers swept the remaining singles matches to edge out a victory 4-3. Meredith Esbeck (West Des Moines, Iowa) highlighting the win for the Panthers with a, 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Cristina Carrillo. Also winning for the Panthers were Taynara Moreas (Santos, Brazil), Carolina Hannes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Mariana Muraca (Sao Paulo, Brazil). The Panthers move to 5-0 on the season. UNI will take on Northern Illinois University on Sunday at 10 a.m., and South Dakota State at 1 p.m. at the Black Hawk Tennis Club. Singles Results No. 1 Sandra Sasidharan (EIU) def.
