Final Stats
Waterloo, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team rebounded from its first loss of the season to top UW-Milwaukee 7-0. This is the sixth time this season the Panthers have swept their opponent in both doubles and singles matches.
In the No. 1 singles position Meghana Paritala (Secunderabad, India/Andhra Pradesh) topped UW-Milwaukee's Kelly Drvaric (4-6), 6-2, 6-2. Agnese Pukse (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary School #64) came out with a win in a hard fought No. 2 singles match (2-6), 6-2, 6-4. Sampada Kanade (Mumbai, India/Modern English) topped Ashley Schoneman 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles spot. Taynara Moraes (Santos, Brazil/Luiza Macuco) won over Ali O'Neal 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 4 match, and Carolina Hannes won 6-2, 6-0 over Traci Litscher in the No. 5 match. Meredith Esbeck completed the sweep for the Panthers winning 6-3, 6-1 over Lauren Fenley in the No. 6 spot.
"Today was another good win for us," UNI head coach Sachin Kirtane said. "We needed to rebound after yesterday's loss and get a win. UW-Milwaukee has improved a lot and this was a good win going into our spring break trip."
The Panthers (8-1) will now head to Valdosta, Ga. for their spring break trip where they will face Jacksonville on Mar. 13th.
