Final Stats

Waterloo, Iowa- The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team earned it's second Missouri Valley Conference win today over visiting Creighton (4-8) by a score of 6-1.

            The Panthers won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point from the Bluejays. The duo of Carolina Hannes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Sampada Kanade (Mumbai, India) won 8-1 over Nicole Thurston and Lindsey Erickson in the No. 2 doubles match. Mariana Muraca (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Taynara Moraes (Santos, Brazil) teamed up to win 8-4 over Jodi Yanagida and Cassie Yoneshige in the No. 3 match.

            "It's great to get a 2-0 start in the Valley," UNI head coach Sachin Kirtane said. "We played really solid today, we knew coming into today's match Creighton was a scrappy team and we would have to work to win. We are really going to have to turn it up tomorrow for Wichita State, but if we can play hard anything is possible.

            UNI (13-3) will take on No. 27 Wichita State tomorrow, April 8, at home. The match will begin at 10:00 a.m.
