Final Stats

Waterloo, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team earned it's third Missouri Valley Conference win today over visiting Southern Illinois (11-3, 2-3 MVC).

 

            The Panthers (14-4, 3-1 MVC) game out swinging strong and earned three victories over the Salukis in doubles matches. The Panthers continued their success in singles play, winning four of the six singles matches.

 

            UNI's Agnese Pukse (Riga, Latvia) won 6-1, 6-1 over SIU's Agata Skorupska in the No. 2 singles match, while Sampada Kanade (Mumbai, India) topped Jessica Flannery 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 3 match. Taynara Moraes (Santos, Brazil) won 6-4, 6-4 over Michela Cruise in the No. 4 singles match. In the No. 5 singles match, Carolina Hannes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) won 4-6, 6-3, (10-7) over Martina Vianna Ce.


 

 

 

            "Today was a really good win for us against a solid team," UNI head coach Sachin Kirtane said. "We played really well in doubles and at the middle of the singles line-up."

 

            UNI will host its final home match of the 2007 season tomorrow against Evansville. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
