Final Stats

Peoria, Ill. - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season Missouri Valley Conference schedule with a 6-1 win today over Bradley.

 

            The win today puts the Panthers in a tie for second place in the final Valley standings. UNI finishes the regular season 17-5 and 6-2 in the Valley.

 

            In doubles play Meghana Paritala (Secunderbad, India) and Agnese Pukse (Riga, Latvia) topped Bradley's Elise Montrose and Jessica Buterbaugh 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles match, while Mariana Muraca (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Taynara Moraes (Santos, Brazil) won 8-3 over Kim Braun and Kelly Donohue in the No. 2 match. Meredith Esbeck and Carolina Hannes topped Emily Regenold and Erin Krubeck 8-4 in the No. 3 match.


 

 

 

            In singles play Paritala, Pukse, Hannes, Muraca, and Esbeck all earned wins for the Panthers to finish with the 6-1 win.

 

            "Today was a great win," UNI head coach Sachin Kirtane. "It was really windy today, but we handled it very well. To finish tied for second in the Valley is really good for us."

 

            The Panthers will have all week to prepare for the MVC tournament this weekend in Omaha, Neb.
