OMAHA, Neb. - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 
decision to No. 3-seeded Illinois State on Friday at the 2006 State Farm Missouri Valley 
Conference championships. 

The matches were moved indoors to the Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center because of inclement 
weather.

"We wanted to play indoors because we play well indoors," UNI head coach Sachin 
Kirtane said. "But we just didn't play well enough today. It's very disappointing."

In doubles, all three UNI doubles' teams found themselves in scoring droughts. At No. 1 
doubles Agnese Pukse and Taynara Moreas lost 8-2, while the Panthers' No. 3 squad of 
Meghana Paritala and Sara Kendall fell behind 6-0. Paritala and Kendall rallied for the next 
four games to cut the lead to 6-4, but could not overcome the early deficit and dropped an 
8-4 decision. Paritala and Kendall earlier this season had scored a tiebreaker win over the 
ISU duo.

The No. 2 Panther Brazilian duo of Mariana Muraca and Carolina Hannes  were dominating 
the match 7-4 before it was stopped early, as the doubles point had already been decided.

In singles' action the Panthers' woes kept coming. UNI's No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles 
players dropped matches in straight sets to end the dual. Pukse fell 6-1, 6-1. Moreas dropped 
a 6-1, 6-2 decision and Hannes suffered a 6-3, 6-2 defeat.

The other three singles' matches were stopped when the match had been decided. 

The Panthers end the season 14-7 overall and 4-6 in the MVC.
