University of Northern Iowa head women's tennis coach Sachin Kirtane announce the addition of Laia Gonzalez-Garrido to the Panther women's tennis roster for spring 2008.

Gonzalez-Garrido (Vinaros, Spain) has been ranked as high as No. 120 in the open rankings in Spain.

"She has a lot of experience playing tournaments all over Europe and is one of the top players in Spain," Kirtane said. "We are very excited about her joining the team for this spring. She'll make our lineup a lot deeper and stronger. She also brings with her a strong academic resume and should be a perfect fit for our program.

UNI will open the spring season Jan. 25 in Iowa City at the Hawkeye Invitational.
