Paritala, Hannes Named First MVC Scholar-AthleteApril 23, 2008
To be eligible for selection to the team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and participate as a starter or important reserve role for her team. A minimum of two votes was required to earn honorable mention and the league's tennis sports information directors voted on this award. Hannes is first in career singles wins in UNI history and has a career record of 85-40 in singles play. She was named honorable mention MVC-Scholar-Athlete in 2007. Hannes has won six of her eight MVC matches this season and is 15-5 in dual meet singles matches this season. She also ranks fourth on the UNI all-time career winning percentage list, and seventh on the UNI all-time career doubles wins list with 66 career wins.
Paritala is tied for second all-time on the UNI career singles wins list and has a career record of 84-43. She ranks fourth on the UNI all-time career doubles wins list, with 76 career wins, and eighth all-time in school history in career singles winning percentage.
