University of Northern Iowa head women's tennis coach Sachin Kirtane has signed Talia Jang-Stewart to a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Panthers in 2008-09.

Jang-Stewart (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) is a top junior Canadian tennis player and will be able to contribute to the Panthers' squad next season.

"We are happy to sign a player of Talia's caliber to our program," Kirtane said. "She has tremendous academic credentials and is a great fit for the UNI women's tennis program."

Jang-Stewart said she is happy to have the opportunity to play college tennis at UNI.

"I feel incredibly lucky that coach Kirtane has invited me to join his squad," Jang-Stewart said. "Other college tennis coaches praised his program and told me it would be a perfect fit. The more I learn about UNI, the luckier I feel. UNI is everyting I want in a school, and I'm looking forward to making it my home next August."
