Cedar Falls, Iowa - The UNI Invitational concluded today (Saturday, Jan. 29) with three UNI-Dome records broken.

Former all-American Shani Marks was the sole woman to capture a record, winning the triple jump competition with her record-breaking leap of 44-1/2.

Freshman Meredith Kosmacek (Neola, Iowa/Tri-Center) finished second in the 60-meter dash in 7.67 and also captured third place in the 200 meters with a 25.09 time. Fellow newcomer Traci Hawley (Ames, Iowa/Ames) finished third behind junior Randi Burns (Strawberry Point, Iowa/Starmont) in the 3K. Hawley clocked in at 10:35.74 while Burns finished the race in 10:23.69. Sophomore Kara Yahn (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) was awarded fourth place for her 8.96 time in the 60-meter hurldes.
 

 

In the middle distance races, Krystle Cordes (Dike, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford) managed a third-place finish in the 600 meters (1:36.01) and Angie German (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware) finished the 400 meters in second place with a 57.07 time.

The women's 4x400 meter relay finished off the day's events, with Cordes, Lynnette Wilson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy), German and Ravin Henry (Omaha, Neb./Millard North) capturing second place for their 3:50.76 finish.

The Panthers will be back in action on their home turf next weekend at the Panther Classic in the UNI-Dome. Multi-events will begin Friday (Feb. 4) at 3:00p.m. and Saturday's events are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Feb. 5.
