Results

Ames, Iowa - For the women, Ivana Barsic (Zabresic, Croatia/16th) started the day with a 15th place showing in the weight throw with a distance of 55-7, and Kayleen Popp (Haven, Kans./Haven) followed with a strong performance in the pole vault, clearing 11-9 and placing fifth. Meredith Kosmacek (Persia, Iowa/Tri-Center) finished 12th out of 125 runners with her 24.81* time. Randi Burns (Strawberry Point, Iowa/Starmont) led the Panther distance runners, placing 27th in the 3,000 meters in 17:46.37, with Traci Hawley (Ames, Iowa/Ames) coming in 30th in 17:48.58.
 

 

On the men's side, senior Derrick Benner (Paulina, Iowa/South O'Brien) finished 23rd in the men's weight throw competition with a 58-4 distance. The men's distance medley relay team captured fifth place in 9:51.39*. Jamie Goodwin (McKeepsort, Pa./McKeepsort/Akron) and Patrick Hunter (Racine, Wis./Washington Park)both had good showings in the 200 meters. Goodwin finished with 15th place in 21.79* and Hunter in 17th, clocking in at 21.82*.

The Panthers will be back in action tomorrow morning, with the first events starting at 10:00 a.m. Results will be available upon conclusion of the meet at www.unipanthers.com
