Cedar Falls, Iowa - It was a big day for the UNI track and field teams as they hosted the UNI-Dome Open today (Friday, Feb. 18). The Panthers recorded 13 first-place finishes, provisionally qualified in three events and broke another UNI school record.

For the women, freshman Meredith Kosmacek (Persia, Iowa/Tri-Center) tallied two first-place finishes, winning both the 200 meters and 60-meter dash. Kosmacek clocked in at 24.80 in the 200 and 7.72 in the 60. Ivana Barsic (Zabresic, Croatia/16th) broke the UNI school record in the weight throw for the third time this season with her 58-2 ½ mark. Barsic won the event, followed by fellow Panthers Morgen Edwards (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) in second, throwing 54-10 ¾ and Bridgitte Duffy in third (48-3/4).
 

 

Sarah Behrens (Marathon, Iowa/Laurens-Marathon) won the women's shot put, throwing 47-10 ½, with Edwards coming in second (46-11 ½) and Sarah Harms (Hampton, Iowa/Hampton-Dumont) in third (45-3 ½).

Amy Bagge (Monticello, Iowa/Monticello) also racked up a first place in the 800, winning the event in 2:19.13, and senior Angie German (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware) won the 600 meters in 1:33.93. Lynnette Wilson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) won the 400 meters in 57.24 and Quinn Vermie (Runnells, Iowa/Southeast Polk captured top honors in the 3,000 meters, finishing the race in 10:35.81.

Kara Yahn (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) captured a runner-up finish in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 9.00. In the 4x400 meter relay, Lauren Carruthers (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley), Henry, Wilson and German finished in first place with a time of 3:49.72.
