Women's 4x400 Breaks UNI School Record
The University of Northern Iowa women's track and field team traveled a select few athletes to Ames, Iowa this past Saturday (March 5) to compete at the Last Chance Qualifier in one last attempt at qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend (March 11-12) in Fayetteville, Ark.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Lauren Carruthers, Lynnette Wilson, Ravin Henry and Angie German broke the UNI school record with its 3:41.00 time. The team placed 10th for their efforts. Crystal Hanson finished 10th in the women's high jump competition with a 5-5 1/4 height and senior Kayleen Popp earned ninth place in the pole vault after clearing 11-6 1/4. Kara Yahn captured 10th place in the 60-meter hurldes with her 8.89 time and Angie German finished ninth in the women's 800 meters, clocking in at 2:10.76. Without any bids to the NCAA Indoor Championships, the team will begin preparation for their upcoming outdoor season that kicks off March 18 in College Station, Texas.
