Cedar Falls - The University of Northern Iowa men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Ole Miss Invitational in Oxford, Miss. this weekend.

The women had two top four finishers in the 400 meter dash, as freshman Lauren Carruthers (Pleasant Valley, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) placed third at 56.72 and sophomore teammate Lynnette Wilson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) came in just behind at fourth place with a time of 57.46. The Panthers' 4x400 meter relay team `A' placed third (3:47.58) and in the pole vault, senior Kayleen Popp (Haven, Kan./Haven) placed eighth (3.65m).

The women also saw much success in the shot put with three top-four finishes. Junior Morgen Edwards (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) placed second (14.34m), junior Ivana Barsic (Zabresic, Croatia) placed third, throwing 13.70m and senior Sara Behrens (Marathon, Iowa/Laurens-Marathon) placed fourth, throwing 13.68m. The Panthers are back in action again Saturday (April 9th) when they host the Mark Messersmith Invitational at the Mark Messersmith Outdoor Track Complex.
