Panther Women Take Four Events at Wisconsin Twilight

Cedar Falls - The UNI men's and women's track and and field teams traveled to Madison, Wis. this weekend to compete in the Wisconsin Twilight. The women won four events in preparation for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship that are set to take place next weekend. On the women's side, Meredith Kosmacek took second place in the 200 meter dash, with a time of 24.83. Three Panthers placed in the top four of the 400 meter dash, as Lauren Carruthers finished second (55.36), Lynnette Wilson placed third (56.00) and Jamie Hutchinson clocked in at fourth place with a time of 56.99. Kara Yahn earned a first-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with her time of 1:02.39, while both Panther relay teams raced to first-place finishes. The 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Liz Bradfield, Pam Kyeremateng, Blair Runde and Meredeth Kosmacek placed first with its time of 46.92. Bradfield also joined with Wilson, Jamie Hutchinson and Carruthers to earn first place in the 4x400 meter relay, clocking in at 3:46.20. Kayleen Popp claimed another event for UNI, placing first in the pole vault with a jump of 3.65m. In the hammer throw, Ivana Barsic placed second, throwing for 50.6m. UNI hosts the MVC Outdoor Championships beginning this Friday (May 13th) at the Mark Messersmith Outdoor Track Complex in Cedar Falls.
