West Lafayette, Ind. - The 16th-ranked Purdue Boilermakers posted a 3-0 win over the University of Northern Iowa volleyball team Friday night at the Mortar Board Classic. Game scores were 34-32, 30-21 and 30-23. With the win, Purdue improves to 2-0 on the season while UNI falls to 1-1.

The Panthers had numerous chances to win the first game, jumping out to an early 10-2 lead. Purdue rallied, however, pulling even at 18-all. The score then stayed close the rest of the way, with UNI fighting off four game points, until the Boilermakers eventually won, 34-32.

Sophomore middle blocker Ashten Stelken (Manchester, Iowa) led UNI with 11 kills, while hitting .400 (11-3-20) for the match. Laura Rowen (Hansell, Iowa) had eight kills and seven digs for the Panthers. Purdue was led by Stephanie Lynch, who had a match-high 15 kills.

The Panthers will play Clemson tomorrow in their final match in the Mortar Board Classic, with first serve set for 11 a.m. central time.
