Final Stats

Cedar Falls, Iowa - Laura Rowen (Hansell, Iowa) posted a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs to lead the University of Northern Iowa volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over Bradley tonight at the McLeod Center.

Rowen, who has recorded six straight double-doubles, was joined in double figure kills by Danielle Brazda (Omaha, Neb.) with 11 and Amy Sampson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) with 10.

In game one, UNI held a 19-18 lead, before going on a decisive 7-2 run to extend its advantage to 26-20. Brazda had two kills and added a block during that stretch. Bradley pulled within 27-23, but the Panthers scored the final three points - the last two on kills from Sampson - to win 30-23.

The Panthers led all the way in game two, opening a quick 8-3 lead. Bradley got as close as three points on several occasions, as late as 17-14. But the Panthers then effectively put the game away with a 7-1 run, getting three service aces along the way - one from Ashten Stelken (Manchester, Iowa) and two from Kristin Belzung (Ankeny, Iowa). The Panthers eventually claimed a 30-20 win.

With the score tied at 9-all in game three, UNI went on a 13-3 run to open a 22-12 edge. Rowen had three kills and UNI had two more service aces during that stretch. The Panthers led by double digits the rest of the way, earning a 30-19 win and the match sweep.

With the win, UNI improved to 8-8 overall, 3-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while Bradley fell to 1-15, 0-5 in the Valley. UNI's next match is Friday (Oct. 5) when it travels to Terre Haute, Ind., to face Indiana State. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
