Southwest Missouri State Sweeps UNI
Oct. 29, 2004 Springfield, Mo. - Four Southwest Missouri State players reached double-digits in kills, as the Bears swept the University of Northern Iowa volleyball team Friday night in Springfield, Mo. Game scores were 30-19, 30-12 and 30-22. Trista Humpal (New Hampton, Iowa) and Rachael Tink (Waterloo, Iowa) led UNI with eight kills each. Abby Lemek (Sioux City, Iowa) added seven kills and a team-high 15 digs. The Bears hit .363 as a team on the evening (56-11-124), while UNI hit a season-low .075 (37-27-133). SMS also won the statistical battle in blocks (12.0-5.0) and digs (61-50). Erin O'Connor and Katie Werges each had 13 kills to lead the Bears. The Panthers saw their nine-match winning streak come to an end and fall to 16-7 on the season, 9-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bears improve to 17-6, 9-3 in conference play. UNI travels to face league-leading Wichita State tomorrow (Oct. 30) at 7:00 p.m.
