Aschoff Named MVC Player of the WeekSept. 2, 2008
St. Louis, Mo. - University of Northern Iowa junior outside hitter Shannon Aschoff was named this week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week. Aschoff earned tournament MVP honors at the Florida Atlantic Invitational, leading the Panthers to the tournament title with a perfect 3-0 record, sweeping each of its opponents. She averaged 4.56 kills per set, 2.11 digs per set and 5.17 points per set, while hitting an impressive .507 (41 kills - 7 errors - 67 attempts) in the three weekend matches. She had 13 kills in the Panthers season opening win over North Florida, had nine kills and a career-best 11 digs against Bethune-Cookman, and recorded a career-high 19 kills in the championship match versus Florida Atlantic. The Panthers open their home season this weekend, hosting the UNI Invitational at the McLeod Center Sept. 5-6.
