Cedar Falls, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team (27-7 overall, 16-2 Missouri Valley Conference) will face Winthrop (34-2 overall, 14-0 Big South) on Friday (Dec. 1) at 5:00 p.m. in Lincoln, Neb., in the first round of the 2006 NCAA Volleyball Tournament.

The match can be heard on KWLO 1330 AM. UNI and Winthrop have met once before in volleyball, with the Panthers posting a 3-1 win in 2004 at Clemson's tournament.

Should UNI win, the Panthers would face either Nebraska (27-1, 19-1 Big 12) or American (25-6, 14-0 Patriot League) on Saturday (Dec. 2) at 5:00 p.m. The top-ranked Cornhuskers and Eagles will play their first round match at 7:00 p.m. Friday night.
