Stelken Named Honorable Mention All-Region

Lexington, Ky. - University of Northern Iowa senior middle blocker Ashten Stelken (Manchester, Iowa) was named honorable mention 2008 All-Central Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the organization announced today. Stelken, a two-time first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, averaged 3.12 kills and 1.45 blocks per set this season, while posting a .307 hitting percentage. Her blocks average ranks her ninth nationally. Over her four-year career, Stelken piled up some impressive numbers. She ranks in the top 10 all-time at UNI in block assists (3rd - 540), total blocks (3rd - 583), blocks per set (7th - 1.27), kills (7th - 1,302) and points (6th - 1,649). The Panthers finished the 2008 season with a 25-9 record and advanced to their third straight NCAA tournament.
